    Scale of aircraft

Just reading an article where they had polled approx. 1300 people.

The question was what scale of aircraft is your favourite.

    The answers.

    1/48. 43 percent

    1/72. 30 percent

    1/32. 14 percent

    1/24. 9 percent

    1/144. 4 percent.

Imaterial. But interesting. Perhaps a poll here would be interesting. I think the poll was a USA forum.

I'm a 1/72er, but I have built in all of the top three. Price and display space being the main reasons for my choice.

i must be a traditionalist lol

was brought up when 1/72 was pretty much all there was...........ive done a few in 1/48 and enjoyed them but it still seems 'odd',....not just for aircraft but armour too

I started with 72 scale as most of us did back in the day. I just find them too small to be satisfying. 48 scale is good but again I think they just lack impact. Hence 32 scale. What is more though is the sheer quality of new tools in that scale. The down side is display space of course.

I think I have the answer. Build WW1 machinery in 1:48. Still small, but with the detail.

What I need to know is how those scales compare with the model railroad system.

For example, if "oo" is equal to 1:72 with aircraft, then would "z" be equal to 1:144?

I'm trying to add some buildings, maybe like farmhouse/ranchlands, but I am not sure which railroad scale best matches 1:48. My local shop owners are more into railroads and not so much anything else (except maybe star wars/star trek), and thusly, aren't much help.

1.144 is roughly N scale, 1.24 is roughly G scale. not sure about 1.48
