I agree Ian I wouldn't say we were really in a Cold War in the 80s that's why I want the early types like the vampire , harrier MK 1 and so forth , I'm interested in jets around the Korean and Vietnam wars era

Well you'll need a Wyvern then. Maybe a Seafang as well.

For me, post Cold War would be Typhoon, Sentinel, C-17 and Voyager. Any jet that was operated by the RAF during the Cold War has been listed I think. I don't think that you could describe the 80's as low key in respect of the Cold War when the RAF had jets on QRF and intercepting Russian reconnaissance aircraft, Nimrods on ASW op's - even after the fall of the Berlin Wall - and if reports are to be believed we came close nuclear armaggedon in 1983 when the USSR seriously beleived they were about to be attacked due to a massive NATO exercise.
On the bench: Airfix 1/48 Sea King HC4, Revell 1/24 Trabant.
Coming soon: Airfix 1/72 Phantom FGR2.
Just finished: Airfix 1/48 Stuka & Airfix 1/72 Sea King HC4.

1969 saw the British Nuclear deterrent was handed to the Royal Navy and the RAF tried up in knots and put on home protection standing.
