So I bought some RLM colours.....

It would seem that I have caught a bug. I call it Luftwaffeitis. As you may know I am building the Adaro, in the themed build I have also recently purchased a Storch. It gets worse--- Both in 1/32 scale. So with these in hand I acquired some RLM colour paints.

A couple of things have come to mind. You use a LOT more paint on a 1/32 scale than on a 1/48!!

Still I have more than enough for a couple more victims.

So I am after a few pointers. Is there one of you that have built one of the following and would care to comment on. Detail, looks right etc...

1/32 scale is unknown ground to me...

    I would like a good Me 109

    Fw 190

Totally subjective but for me the Cyber Hobby Bf 109 E is the pick of the bunch and I wouldn't consider another E. I think that it's the best Bf 109 kit on the market....full stop.

For a F or G I'd probably go with Hasegawa. The only K I've built was RoG and that was very good. The new RoG G is supposed to be very good but I haven't had a look at one yet.

Many people like the Eduard kits but I've had a fight with a couple in the past and tend to avoid them, which is not entirely rational, but there you go.

For the Fw 190 I'd say Hasegawa again. Avoid the old toolings which are still out there.

There are lots of other kits and opinions out there

    Cheers

I can totally recommend any of the Hasegawa (new tool) Fw190 A/D/F series kits. I have them all and they are great to build. The Revell Fw190 D9 kit (04725) is a reboxing of the Hasegawa kit but just with different decals.

The new Revell Bf109 G6 & G10 Erla kits are great too. The older but still valid Hasegawa ones (including the G14) are good too but more expensive and have a few minor issues regarding shape

The Revell Bf109 K4 kit (04702) is also another reboxing of the very good Hasegawa kit

        Hi Ian

I agree with most of the above.

Hasegawa 190s or, if you're feeling flush, you could go for the Zoukei Mura Ta 152H

Cyber hobby 109 looks good but I do like the Eduard kit too. Essentially you're spoilt for choice with the E. I'm going to do a comparative build of both E3 kits some time in the future.

109G is Hasegawa again but the new Revell G6 offering is excellent and great value. Revell do a K which is a reboxing of the Hasegawa kit.

All kits invariably have something wrong with them but the above are at the top of the class in terms of accuracy and build in my opinion.

        Cheers

        Paul

So I can easily buy the Revell 109G. the one that says early and late on the box. Seen a few review builds and it looks pretty good.

Well armed with this new info I can go shopping with a bit more confidence.

          Cheers

Everybody buys paint just for specific kits - this is the first time I've come across someone buying specific kits just to match their paint!

You can even turn it into a Bf109 G14 with very little work needed (and no aftermarket stuff either). Here is the link for doing that http://forum.largescalemodeller.com/topic/1238-132-messerschmitt-bf-109g-6-early-and-late/ (down the bottom of page)

Don't get hung up on the compressor bulge on the AWM 'G-6' as the author of that link does....a bit. That is really a mongrel of an aircraft, rebuilt on at least two occasions.

As Allyne says you can easily make a G-14 from the kit. It's actually impossible to say when a G-6 becomes a G-14. The G-14 was supposed to be a standard design incorporating all the developments of the G-6 production, but in reality it wasn't. All sorts of variations (which I won't bore you with) came of the various production lines.

                  Cheers

Then of course you might just need to buy a bit more paint to be sure you have enough. Then you will have enough for another kit!!
