Just for a change I fancied doing a Corvette,

Yes there's loads of other stuff in stash now and a large unfinished one but I've lost the desire for that so a new build is in order,

The kit is nicely detailed in some areas such as the engine, transmission and front/suspension assemblies, especially compared to the C6-R recently but bizarrely the body is one piece & fixed so covers it all up ![ATTACH]89350.IPB[/ATTACH]


Whole kit moulded in white so after a good soapy wash a coat of grey primer on the dark bits and white on the shell/bodywork ill probably start some building later today ,

first few steps have been assembly of the power train - engine block & basic ancillaries and gearbox/rear diff

Some of the moulding is quite nice although will need some enhancing, the ECU's and battery installs are moulded in but should show some nice detail later

Guys & girls, I need some advice here please

I think the C6-R liked good weathered & dirty & your comments on the build seem to agree but do I do the same with this one or go clean & shiny ?

Nice work so far. A quick search to me shows the car is almost always clean and tidy, but I guess after a Le Mans 24 hour it will be a bit grimy and bug-ridden.

Well I've had a spare bit of time today so thought this could do with some more work

Trial fit of bodyshell, what is it like?

Well it doesn't fit that's for sure, had to trim the rear internal frame by 2mm, ended up popping the dashboard out, looks like that will have to be placed in & secured after shell fitted & before screen.

Also the side exhausts don't line up properly no matter how I teak them so they're getting cut off the chassis and will just have the visible ends fitted into exits below doors.

All this leads to me deciding this kit will have the shell & chassis permanently fixed together.

Can tell this is an older kit than the C6R, detail is much poorer, things like vents/intakes are just moulded rather than cut out and I'm not trying to do them !

OK so three months later…………


had a few hours over easter away from new business so bought I'd get this out & finish.

Interior was a complete swine, nothing fits, dash had to have so much sanded away underneath to enable shell to fit onto chassis.


Exhausts have been cut away for same reason, outlets are cut down just to very end tailpipe & fitted inside shell as again surgery needed to get two halves to fit and will end up permanantely sealed up


Exterior wise, I'm the first to admit I've sort of lost desire and wanted to get it finished, needs a few details trimming & tidying up like the window surrounds.


Do quite like the look of a clean car but this will have a little bit of weathering to finish i think.
