    Tamiya 1/20 Ferrari F189

Dug this out of the stash and thought I'd see if I can get it done before Xmas. As such, I'm whimping out and doing a curbside version, as our colonial friends would call it i.e.with the covers stuck down !

The only addition I'm thinking of making at this stage is to use some F'artefice full sponsor decals.

So, pretty obvious what I've done so far. I'm trying to work out if I can glue the side pod covers to the upper bodywork before adding to the chassis - I'll let you know how that pans out !!

Out of interest, does anyone have any recommendations as to a rattle can colour that might be beter than the listed TS-8, or is that a good match for the real thing?

    Cheers, Neil

Hi all, back with a bit of progress. Tyres deseamed, and work started on Mr Berger. Working on the inner tub, with the rads painted and fixed. I've deviated from Mr T's instructions, and fixed the sidepod covers to the main top bodywork, to make sure that that seam is as nice as I can make it ( this was my main bugbear with this kit as to me, it never looks quite right when left removable ). The complication I didn't see with this is that I then can't fit the bodywork with the tub fixed to the floor, so my plan is to assemble tub and bodywork as one, and fix this to the floor section, hopefully managing to mate it to the side pieces of bodywork on either side of the engine/g/box.

Will it work??? You'll just have to stay tuned.....

      Cheers, Neil

Hi all. Progress is slow, but have managed to do a few bits and pieces. Including sorting out the alignment of the rear bodywork pieces.

I thought doing the model closed up would be an easier option, but trying to get everything to line up to look half decent seems to be taking just as long as it would otherwise. The way it's looking at the moment, I'll be assembling everything into the upper bodywork and just placing the floor on from underneath !!

        Stay tuned....

        Cheers, Neil

You haven't quite got it done by Christmas Neil, but it's coming along nicely.

So much for being done before Xmas !!!!!

Anyway, after what seems an age, I'm finally making progress with this. Due to me wanting to wanting to model this closed up and with the top bodywork glued to the sidepod covers, construction hasn't been quite how Mr Tamiya would have recommended, but I'm getting there. Hopefully you can see from the pics how I've gone about this. The only real snag was snapping a piece of the rear bodywork off while installing the engine, but it looks like it'll come out OK. Got the aftermarket decals through which really are nice, if a tad expensive.

Shouldn't be too long now, but don't hold your breath!!!

            Cheers, Neil

Hi all, well finally I'm calling Gerhard done !! ( well, almost..)

Sorry about the lack of build pics, but I kind of got y groove on and before I knew it, I was done

I've got a small base to do, so once that's done, I'll put some pics in the "Completed" section.

                Thanks for looking.

                Cheers, Neil
