Did the underside of the body, as it's carbon fibre that's also going to get the carbon treatment.
Haven't found any suitable materials yet with the correct carbon weave look. There is an old fabric shop my mum goes into with a lot of fine netting hopefully I'll find something suitable for the carbon pattern.
The inspection tray I did in a weathered aluminium finish. Mostly to practice my painting skills but also to add some depth to the model. I have no idea if this is accurate or not but it looks cool and feasible as it's an inspection tray and not part of the carbon chassis. I might see if I can get some fasteners added on to add the the realism.

Looking really good...... Have you thought about browsing through the ladies tights section for you carbon weaveComment

Yeah I did actually. Problem with that is its stretchy, and I need it to be taught. Also I'm pretty sure that it's quite hairy in comparison to meshing or netting material.Comment

Well I tried the carbon spray look. What a disaster. It didn't fill well at all, too much paint and it pooled everywhere. Too little and there was uneven coverage. I need netting that's much coarser that will make the paint flow through. Problem is that coarser netting won't look to scale and will annoy the hell out of me and will make it look like a toy in my opinion. So I'm binning this attempt and sticking to the flat colour. Unless I can find a better way of doing it.

I had a look at the site. After looking at my reference pics I can say that I'm feeling a lot better about leaving out the carbon detail. You can barely see the finish on the real car so I think we are Ltd with the realistic detail were able to display on a model of this size. If it was a 1:10 scale I'd be pursuing the carbon finish.
If you look at the picture below you can clearly see that the inside of the body just looks a matt grey. I'm sure if you went right up close you'd see the carbon weave but I'd have to be looking right on top of it to see it.
