1931 Model A Ford - My first build.

When I say this is my first build, it is, since joining this forum. I have been away from the modelling scene for quite a few years and now having retired, I have decided to take up modelling again. My interest in modelling was always large scale Radio Controlled model ships, mostly scratch built. All these models were sold quite a few years ago. So with my interest in cars and bikes, these are the vehicles I have chosen to start modelling.

I have quite a few kits in stock, which I have already mentioned on this forum, but have decided to start with the Model A Ford. This kit is made by Monogram and is scaled at 1/25, just a tad smaller than the more popular 1/24 scale kits, but hardly noticeable really. This model is classed as a two in one, meaning that it can be modelled in two different guises. A normal road car, or a supped up hot rod. I am going to build it as a road car. Anyway, here is the kit showing the parts ready for assembling. Not sure at the moment what colour it will be, but there is enough to be going on with for the time being, before I decide.

These show the car in the two versions and the final photo, the kit contents. Actual build photos will follow soon.

Yes old Henry Ford made all his cars in black, but I was thinking of a dark colour as bright colours didn't really take off until the late thirties, even then, usually on sports tourers. I think bottle green, navy blue, or a dark burgundy would suit this model, with dark tan interior for the trim and seating.

So far I have got the engine and gearbox assembled and will be starting with the chassis and lower body next. Hope to get some photos up for the next update.
