Ok here is my next build. The 250 GTO. Been looking forward to this. 


Made a start on weathering the chassis. And getting ready to order supplies.

I've got the Revell one somewhere, apart from the slightly bigger one I'm currently building.


Are you going to go with the classic 'Rosso Cina' they were originally painted, or do one of the other race colour schemes?

Thanks Roy. I think i am going down the classic Rosso Cina on this one without shadow of a doubt for me any Ferrari has to be Red. I hate red cars, but i love a red Ferrari. No other car suits it.

Thanks roy. I'll be using zero paints colour matched automotive model paint.

Depending on how 'picky' you want to be, most model paints are Ferrari Rosso Corsa which isn't the same as Rosso Cina.


No 250 GTO was ever painted Rosso Corsa.

Bit more progress on the steel tube chassis. The fuel tank and oil tank get the same weathering treatment as they are also steel. 


The internal chassis I beleive was sheet aluminium along with the body shell. Looking at the model from underneath it is lacking realisim so i have rubbed it down and started adding more tubing around the panels as these were all hand built cars. 


This will be painted Alclad Aluminium. I have several shades available so will experiment.

Well im quite pleased with the result. Looks much better needs some weathering powder and a bit of dry brushing to tone it in a bit, but overall i think thats a sucess. I was heavy on glue on purpose to simulate a hand made welded look.


The tubing makes it look much more handmade. As every one of these GTO's  were hand built back in the day only 30 were ever made.


Got a bit of a dillema here now though. Looking at the inside, im temped to do the same (with thinner pipe) and cut off those awful moulded straps.


Test fitted with exhaust and skid plate just to see how is all going together.
