Great first post Rik, like what you've done there with the Golf.

Big decision to make. I'm contemplating doing a roof chop on the golf.

Does anyone have any experience of this? Or sage advice perhaps?

I have seen it done on a real car where they cut the roof into quarters, chopped the pillars, welded the roof parts to the pillars using clamps across the gaps in the roof then welded metal across the gaps then had all the glass cut down to fit. I recon a similar approach will work on a model.

Nice idea. They look life X-pack arches as found on a Mk2 Rs 2000  Just a whole lot bigger !.

For a longer ride, go wide.......! O.o

That much body work demands plent of rubber! B|

Are you scratch building the body kit or are you using an after market accessory?

Ben, thanks for the vid but it wasn't a great deal of use except for his cutting advice. In regards to roof chops, all he does is say he has done some.

Colin, that is a great looking RS2000 indeed, will have to keep an eye out for a 1/24 kit of one (if it exists).

Gavin, the body kit is made mostly of plasticard with some bits of sprue so is scratch built.

Next things on the list are to radically re-design both the front and back ends. If anyone has any cool ideas I'd be interested.

That's the beauty of doing a modified car, I can do anything to it I want!
