Bowcat's Ferrari F430

For my first attempt at a civvy vehicle I picked up this kit of two Ferrari's for not a lot of money on eBay.

I started on the F430 today. Sanded the seams off the body and got a primer coat on, and made a start on the engine.

So far so good. Picking out the lettering on the rocker covers was a PITA.

Just something I knocked up in the workshop from a wire hanger and scrap wood. Simple to make but proved very handy.

Had a bit of a nightmare with the paint on the body. It's now sitting in a tub of bleach to strip the paint.

Crisis averted, stripped, rubbed down and re-undercoated.

Still having issues with the undercoat, had a weird ripple on the roof so it's back in the bleach to be stripped again.

Decided to get on with the interior while it's in the bath.

I also stripped all the nasty fake chrome then repainted in nice chrome.

Looking good Bob, shame about the body paint problems but stick with it. Needs to be right so it is worth spending the time and effort to get there.

Cheers gents, I'll get there with the body, going to change tactics slightly.

I think I might also give the interior a satin varnish and add some brown pin wash to the seat lines to give it a bit more depth.

Mrs B is on an early shift today so I was up at 6am. What better to do than start modelling?

Got the interior finished and on the chassis, and got the wheels together. Annoyingly the brake disks had D shaped holes, but the flat bit was in the wrong place so the callipers were all pointing in different directions. I had to file the holes out which will just mean gluing them on instead of the designed press fit.
