    Airfix 1:32 Jaguar XKR GT3

Took my daughter to (dare I mention it) Hobbycraft today for art supplies for college and had a nose at their kits. I try and avoid these huge type stores but they had a good selection. Including an Airfix Jag XKR GT3 starter set, but it was reduced to just £9 as the paint, glue and brushes were missing. Bought it for that price and will sit with my other two Airfix 1:32 sports cars (Aston DBR9 Gulf and Mini Countryman WRC).

I thought I would try a matt black finish on it but not sure if I like it now?
Though it does come with plenty of Decals so all that black will get broken up. I also have the joy of trying to paint the silver vents on the side of the front wing. I think I will invest a chunk of time into making a mask for it. With hindsight, it would have been easier to paint first then mask to spray the rest. You live and learn!

      RAGE

Model finished okay. Not perfect but good enough. Then cam Airfix’s decals and I nearly just binned the thing. They are just too big, too complex, too badly fitting and take no account of things like door handles and spoiler. Ended up with a half-arsed finish that uses German WW2 tank numbers to fill voids.

      bloody decals!

It looks mean though Toby. Nice work, just a pity about the decals.

Thanks. The matt black does make it look like a stealth car but since some of the decals went on fine I've decided to leave like this. I've not used fixer on the decals so I can remove if I change my mind later, though this was one of those builds that I just wanted to be done and dusted so I could do something better. I'm not the sort to put a build to one side as I know it will live 'on the side' infinitum.
