Lee Drennen’s 1/32 Airfix Aston Martin DB5 Road Racer.

Here’s another Road Racer I’ll be working on. This Airfix kit is very tired and showing it’s age on the molds. There is a lot of cleaning and filling. To make the Racer I’ll be Omitting the bumpers and replacing the Wheels and Tires with more Convincing ones. They were a little Expensive but it’s worth it to me. There will be times the build will be going fast so I’ve provided Racing Helmets under your chair. If Rick H. shows up he will be in charge of the “Helmets Required” light. Set back and Enjoy the ride.

Tim. Thanks for stopping by and I was wondering who would’ve the first to say something about James Bond.

Jim. Have a seat glad you are here.

This morning I tried going outside to work but it was way to humid and I had trouble breathing so I came back in and worked on the front. I used Baking soda and Super Glue to fill in the gaps and sanded the front trying to even it up but the molds are so worn it has two different sides in the front so I did the best I could. I also mock up the wheels to see the difference.

Nice wheel replacement. The parts look pretty ropey though. it’s probably time somebody produced state of the art examples of these icons!

Bond.......'Do you expect me to talk?'.
Goldfinger.........'Why no Mr. Bond! I expect you to die!'

Lee, you are doing well with that tired and aged kit. Looking forward to seeing more of your build.
Incidentally, you did not mention who makes the after market PE wire wheels you are fitting, or where they can be obtained from.

Thanks for the complement and I’m sorry I didn’t mention them they are plastic wheels with rubber tires they actually go on slot cars here’s a pic of them. There made by Carttix. Nice quote from Goldfinger I like it.

Rivet Jones is probably right behind me..........and I'm in charge of the "Helmets On" light JR not the "Tea Brewing" so put your apron on and make mine a Tetley's.....no sugar, no milk. And YES.....this needs to be the "Race" version of the Bond DB5 we have all come to know and love!! Crank on Lee...biscuits should be arriving soon, Rick H.

I did manage to get the front and rear suspension done. It’s way to humid outside to pair I’ll have to wait for a good day.

Lee, those Cartrix wires really look good. Some of the best I have ever seen moulded in plastic.
Do Pendle Slot Racing stock them?
