    Tamiya Nismo R34 GT-R Z-Tune

    Morning guys.

I decided I fancied a relatively simple build so pulled this from the stash. Will be built mostly OOB.

Made a start over the weekend by getting the body prepped and primed, and all the parts for the underside cleaned up. I'm not going to go mad on these as I doubt anyone will ever look at the underside, and I want to concentrate on the bodywork, which will be the star of the show. More on that later.

I decided I wanted to give some heat staining to the exhaust tip, so instead of painting the kit part I turned a replacement out of stainless. I applied some heat while it was still in the lathe (before parting off). I think it came out quite well.

        Morning all. :smiling3:

I've been working on the paint for the last couple of days. As I mentioned before, the body is going to be the star of the show, and this won't be to everyone's taste. It came about a while ago when I needed a particular paint for a bike frame. I liked the result so much I knew I had to do a car body with it.

It took a fair bit of prep before the final colour. First the primed body got a gloss black coat.

        Followed by Sparkling Silver.

Before the final colour, Kawasaki Green Candy.

        Bright isn't it.

There's a couple of decals to go on, and some panel line wash, then I will get it glossed before finally painting the window rubbers in.

Wow Bob, love that colour and great work on the heat stain definitely better than trying to paint it.

                              Cheers guys.

Mark, I just don't get the fascination with that camber, you see them on Insta and TikTok, to me in just looks ridiculous. Bet they go through a lot of tyres.

Did a little bit over the weekend. Got the running gear, chassis and wheels painted. Didn't go mad on the underside but threw a couple of metallics at it for fun. Wheels are gunmetal, and brake callipers gold. they should both be black but I think this will look better against the green and adds a little interest.

I also got the the few decals applied to the body and a gloss coat on. I will leave that a few days to fully harden, then get it polished before spraying the window rubbers.

I also got the interior cleaned up and primed. There's only 10 parts to the interior and 4 colours, so should go together quickly.

                              Cheers,

                              B
