Hannu Mikkola's MKII Escort Eaton Yale 1980

Here are some pictures of one of the most famous flyin' finns, Hannu Mikkola's, car for the 1980. He competed with longtime co-driver Arne Hertz.

The car is a revell model and fun to build.

Sprayed with a cheap blue spraycan, added some details such as for example safetybelts

    Rocking Regards Janne

    Very nice model!

I remember seeing him racing around that period. Am I really that old?!

I love the old "proper" cars that were used for racing.

Are you going to leave it in clean-from-workshop or dirty-in-use look?

Weathering on cars is a very difficult subject.

A lot of folk just splatter "mud" everywhere and it looks wrong. A fine misting and building it up is the key.

You've just gotta love those MKII's- its a nice model for sure- wouldn't mind it on my shelf!.

Gotta agree with the web slinger- I like to see a bit of dirt thrown up over the bodywork, just adds that authenticity to it. Couple of years back I remember seeing a rally Lancia Delta model complete with bodywork damage and LED lights in it-the offside headlight not illuminated due to impact, brilliant! Anyone go as far as this on their kits?.

Terry, I must live a stone's throw away from you if that! small world!

Brilliant kit and great memories of my college days. One of my friends had an RS Escort in those days and boy did we have fun around Liverpool in it!!

Nice work Janne, you've got to love the old Escort. I've built this some years ago, infact it's on here somewhere. So, whats next? How about Hannu Mikkola's Quattro.

              Have fun, John

                Sorry for the late answer

I've already started the next build, a Dodge truck with a tanker(don't know the correct word) that's supposed to be in GULF colors...

The maker of the model is Lindberg seen here

Happy New Year by the way!!
