    Week Six

Following a mahoosive primer cock up I'm back on track. I got the pressure all wrong and the primer dried like 80 grit sand paper so in my frustration it was shelved for a week and I stayed away from all model related activities whilst I mustered some more enthusiasm.

The whole body was flatted down and re primed in white. Then shot the whole thing in bright red, left it for a few days to properly harden an then tackled the masking, I found this very challenging. BMF was used to mask the edges for a less noticeable paint edge and I shot the black this morning. So here is the shell ready for decals and then clear coat.

I also have managed to crack on with the cockpit and engine wiring.

Its starting to feel like the end is in sight...

    Thanks for watching

    Jason

What happened in week 5 Jason?

Anyway, starting to look the business. That body shell looks very smart indeed, some nice crisp lines to the paintwork.

Engine .... Same story .... Very swish

        Cheers Colin,

I was in a very dark place during week five mate! I always get a bit nervous around the body finishing stage as its so easy to mess it right up and the primer disaster was enough to tip me over the edge

          Jason,

Good call, sometimes it's best to step away and leave well alone until you're ready to start again.

I'm at that same point with my Airfix Lancaster build it all started to go pair shaped so I've stepped away from it.

That paint job is just stunning, cockpit and engine bay is top work.

          Keep up the good work.

                Week Seven

Feels like some progress has been made this week. For a change the decals on this one were an absolute joy. I got them done over the course of two evenings and even though I say so myself they look pretty cool (loving the black to red fade)

Remade the brake cooling ducts from sprue and detailed with a bit of BMF. the Body is dry fitted to check that every thing lines up now that I've fixed the cockpit and engine in place. It didn't take much jiggling at all, even the bits I chopped up seem to line up OK!

The engine was detailed with various bits of wire, mostly stripped from old chargers and usb cables, I'm not sure its entirely accurate but hey, it's not like I'm gonna be driving it...

That's it for now, body is coming back off and will be living somewhere warm and dry until next weekend when I should be clear coating it.... There are a few more fiddly bits to be done; front and rear lights and the windows. Oh and the tyres need to be scrubbed but I'm definitely on the final lap!

                Thanks for looking

                Jason

I think Studio 27 do the Calsonic livery, I may have to build another!!!
