Hi John
This is only my second build but I have tried all the paints and lacquers I can get my hands on and had not very good results especially trying to get good lacquer finish with the airbrush this still eludes me (my daughter who does not airbrush but is an artist says I have way too much pressure and it is hitting the target object and bouncing back) but I have zero patience if something does not work immediately it is abandoned and I move on, oh and I managed to completely destroy my first 2 airbrushes
I would not dream of coming to this fountain of knowledge to offer any kind of advice it is just humbly what is working for me.
So here is my recipe for what you see in the pics I think it could be called airbrush for dummies (or me) if you like.
I am using createx paint it is awesome you can cock it up and leave it overnight and I gest you not when you return to it the next day it has sorted itself out it is so forgiving and no kind of primer or anything is needed.
The paint

The lacquer (Although I did have good results the first time round by brushing on Humbrol clear)

And the airbrush is a gravity fed neo for Iawata. It is perfect for me because of its simplicity, reliability and ease of use and cleaning. (and I have just learned they are cheaper on this site than anywhere else)
Cheers rob appreciate your help will look into getting my hands on cretex paint do you thin it or straight from bottle regards John oh! And more pics when time permits

straight from the bottle john put smdesigns into google they seem to be the main or only supplier here in the uk that is where I get it, but I warn you the array and types of colours they do is mind blowing!
When the Nomad is finished........... the next build has just arrived and even though I knew I had purchased a 1:12 I was still surprised by............... well let's call it 'presence' .... it is big as you can tell I have just opened the box but straight away you can feel the quality it is awesome and already decided it will not be that boring blue on the box :P
I had a look at the website. Sure are a load of great colours.

PS- The best thing to use for size comparison is a common sized pot of paint. I'm sure that most of the European or US members don't know how big a 50p coin is.
Humbrol paint tins are rather well known as they are the same size as a lot of other paints..
The Chevy looks to be a great model build. The paint finish is great and I love the pristine engine. Great work, I look forward to seeing this beautiful car being finished.
