    can laquer destroy chrome on models

    hi guy's. Quick question can laquer, destroy chrome on model bikes yes or no

    Going to open a big debate here because in theory a water based laquer (and yes they are being advertised) it would cause no problems. However if you start using the strong chemical based type lacquers over ( i guess you refer to) plastic parts that have been "chromed" then you could have issues.

    I temember my brother did a motor cycle kit some years back and hit it with a clear coat that dissolved the "chrome" parts bAck to bare black plastic

      thanks for that tony i'll forget that idea then at spraying laquer over chrome plastic. as I have sprayed the parts so, what i'll do is laquer the parts i have sprayed, and add the chrome parts afterwards,and I will scrap the area where they need to go that way, it should not damage the chrome plastic. at all

        hi tony figured it out on the bike I am doing right now under the heading
        starting the other bike engine not orginal colour like instructions say, I used blue tac to cover the chromeon the petrol cap, then when I finished spraying the laquer i took the blue tac off
