I reckon another few hours of fiddly bits and this will be done although I am having trouble getting the decals to lie down properly on the fuel tank.
      Exhaust system fitted.

Not too happy with the front pipe colour, seems a bit too blue on the bike so I will probably take it of and mist a bit of clear orange on it.

Yes, I know I did not fill the seam in the frame down tube but unless you are up really close like in the picture it will not seen on the finished model.
Spending too much time on my real bike right now so building is a bit slow.

      Andy.

Handlebars all done, 22 parts in that lot.

Tank and side panels test fitted.

Not happy with the tank as some parts of the decals will not settle properly, I did think about stripping them off and painting the parts but decided it would be a nightmare to get the paint mix to exactly match the colour of the other decals so I will put up with it.
I notice on the new Tamiya 1/12 Honda CBR 1000 RR-R thirty year anniversary model they use Cartograf decals so perhaps they have seen the light as far as decals go.

          Andy.

I managed to get on with this today as the weather was a bit cooler here so my workspace was OK to work in. Spent the last week or so out on the bike and also painting my shed, unfortunately it had to be painted by brush.
Anyway, nearly there with the model bike now.

Just the screen, footrests, rear brake pedal and rear number plate to fit along with a couple of small decals and it's done.

                    Andy.

That is a long boring story, but you asked. The instructions call for the seats to be painted with a mix of blue and white with black panels along each side but the box art and the picture on the instructions show it with black seats and I also know a guy who has a real Africa twin in that colour scheme and it has black seats. I primed the seats in white then gave them a coat of light blue sprayed from a distance to give a slightly grainy finish and the final coat is rubber black which I think makes it look a bit like the real thing.

The bike is all done now and I will post more pictures in the completed section shortly but here is a size comparison with it and my 1/35 scale Jeep.
