Having built as many sub-assemblies as possible to avoid the risk of nasty glue marks sneaking in to the model I thought I had made a mistake with the front end.
How will this

Fit on to this with the engine/radiator and air filter fitted/

After a good bit of fiddling (and a few curses) it does go on, so my luck is holding, for now.

After that, feeling pleased with myself I had a go at a bit of painting.

Turned out not too bad, perhaps another coat on some parts, the front grill parts and the fuel tank are acually slver as opposed to the other bits which are dark grey metallic (allegedly) and having never used an airbrush before I am quite happy.

Andy.

Some excellent work Andy, think the internals look neat, and the engine. Definitely some thought gone into planning with the assemblies.

Thanks John, I looked long and hard at what Italeri calls instructions, in fact, it is just a few pages of diadrams with no written words before I built anything as I was sure if it was painted then assembled the way they intended there was a better than even chance that there could be a dreaded glue stain somewhere. There will be an even trickier stage to come when I fully assemble the cab parts, but you will have to wait and see.

Andy this one of my main gripes about manufacturer's, poor instructions and none existing proof reading. Doesn't take much effort.

Not built a truck in years Andy but yours is coming along very nicely. I've been using Halfords spray for a while and it does put down a lovely even undercoat.

After painting parts with the dark grey metallic I thought I would have to use something other than titanium siver for the grille as the dark was not as dark as I would have liked and the contrast between them was not good. However, after a couple of coats of clear it darkened down a bit,so now it looks OK.

No prizes for guessing how blue the air was after I dropped this tiny clear side marker light on the carpet.

After about 5 minutes of combing the carpet with my hand I found it, so all is well at the truck workshop.

Another one for the "catch all apron " I feel :smiling2:.
Good find though, and coming on well.

Not a lot more done today, managed to wrestle the front bodywork on, sun visor in the background which is another thing the instruction sheet got wrong but luckily I spotted it before sticking the wrong bits on.

Hard to see in the photo but I painted the insides of the lights with silver, waiting for clear glue to come before I fit the glass.

Did a bit of work on decals today, some of them that fit on the grille are rather small.

Slowly getting there, soon be time to tackle the cab paintwork.

Thanks Pete, coming along slowly, but there is no rush.

Front lower grille, number plate and lights done. I should have tried to find a brighter silver for the light housings but it will have to do. The R620 decal is a bit distorted as the tiny plate has a bend in it and I did not want to break it trying to get it straight.

One side panel and wheels done, the other side panel will need a good bit of persuasion to fit right, a job for tomorrow, or maybe not as the weather looks good enough to be out on the bike.

Waiting for some tamiya masking tape to come before I start to paint the cab so after fitting the other one I will be at a loose end, unless.....................

Perhaps not, one at a time is plenty for my old brain to handle and the pickup is destined to be part of a long term project I have in mind.
