1/35 Thunder Models US Crawler Sixty.

I think this will be interesting to build.

Three of the above sprues are for the tracks...............lovely!
Two pages of instructions just for the engine, and being the sad person the I am I counted them and there are 82 parts for it.

    PE sheet.

I made a start on the engine last night and some of the parts are so small I thought it would be prudent to cut the sprue with the part still attached to prevent the carpet monster from eating them.

    Then glue the parts together.

    And snip off the sprue.

Probably no need to explain my method as you guys will know it already although it may help someone who is new to making models.

    Andy.

    Andy,
those tracks look a bit daunting! I did the Trumpeter S-65 tractor a few years ago, with the same sorts of tracks. I've only just come off the medication caused by that! :smiling5:
    Best of Luck!

      Hi Andy
Perhaps similar to Scottie's current MiniArt build. Lots of very small fragile parts. Dave's right - the tracks do look daunting.

Looks like an engine with a lot of tracks attached LOL. Sure you’ll sort it out though.

It will be OK Dave, I build a Mirror Models dozer a while ago and eventually figured out the best way to do them and these are exactly the same, why they have "movable tracks" I do not know as the sprockets are fixed.

PS. can a Moderator correct the heading as I have missed the H out of Thunder.

I seem to remember John Race doing the same Trumpeter model & he's never been the same since!

Nearly finished the engine, just about another 10 parts to go on.

A slight miscalculation when fitting the large PE plates to this side, but with the engine in the frame and painted it will never be seen, same with the seam at the bottom of the exhaust stack some rusty paint/pigment will hide it.
Not likely to get much more done as I am getting ready to go off to the Isle Of Man on Monday for 2 weeks of watching bike racing and the practice/qualifying starts on Sunday.

              Andy.

Great start on the engine Andy. Don't you hate it when the mold seam shows up in the pics, but you didn't see it during the build.....
Have a good time at the race and maybe grab a few pics for us, if you can. Enjoy!!!

Sorry missed the start of this. That is a lot of tracks for the engine..... That's two more parts than four of Armourfast's quick-build Panthers!

                  Enjoy the racing!

Well, it's been a while what with spending 16 days on the Isle of Man and as it has been so hot my workspace in the attic was a no go area until last night.
Got the main frame done, lots of fine detail parts on there.

A pile of bits to make one track frame.

And still a few more parts to complete the frame but it's getting there.

                              Andy.
