    1977 DODGE MONACO

UPDATE-Re-worked model and new pics on page 2.

I have been working on this for the past few days and hated every sodding minute of it. It is a very old 1/24 AMT kit and it was just a fight from start to finish.

I wanted this as a well used car, not a wreck.

I added real cloth for carpets and a cloth roof liner, distressed so you can see it loose. Added instrument decals, weathered-spent ages on the paintwork, used a toothbrush to take the paintwork back to a more rough looking in places, it even has scratch swirls on the roof. In the end it fell apart as the fit was awful...this was one build that I got really fed up in doing and was happy it is over

The more it tried my patience the more stressed I got and of course the more my hands shook...in the end I good easily have binned it, I stuck with it...but hate it...I really hate the sight of it!

I think it looks exactly as you intended Si, a masterpiece, don't know why you are so hard on yourself, wish I was as good.

Cheers Ian, it was to be well used but still a runner, sort of if you saw a 1977 Monaco now.

I tried a new sponge technique and tried to blend in places so that the original paint just showed through in places...must admit it hasn't come out to bad.

Bless you Ken, your work is as good as mine mate. Overall, it has the look I wanted, in that you're correct-just mad as it was a chore and not enjoyable.

Nowt wrong with that mate it does look well used so job done

The only thing I hate about car kits is that horrible chrome effect for bumpers and wheels, it's just makes them look like toys no matter how good you paint the bodywork
