    McLaren F1 GTR Longtail

Hi to all, as a way of getting started with this forum I thought I’d add a few photos of a model I completed last year. It started life as a fairly bland looking 1/24 Aoshima McLaren F1 GTR. As my eldest son works for McLaren (at the IDIADA complex in Catalunya) he suggested I convert the model into the 1997 Steve Soper/J.J.Lehto ‘Fina’ sponsored endurance car. I bought a new decal set for the model but unfortunately the side decals were in many pieces and didn’t line up with the shape of the car doors so I had to mask the side of the car off and airbrush the complex pattern. This process was not without uttering many, many oaths! Some modifications were to fit a custom drivers harness, add scratch built wheel weights and valves, and a make a more realistic aerial from stretched sprue. Anyway, see what you think and any constructive criticism is welcome.

    Cheers for now, Bill.

      Hi Bill
That is a very nice result. Well done with the side masking and airbrushing - certainly worth the effort.
