Hello all,
Well, after the 1/12 Lancia its back down to 1/24th and the Belkits Mk1 Ford Escort RS1600. Performance Mk1 escorts were the top dogs when I was young, although I couldn't afford one and had to make do with Mk 1 & 2 Cortina GTs' They weren't bad for their day though....
So I was looking forward to doing this one, although they seem to be hard to come by so I had to get one from Belgium in the end.
Its nice, relatively simple, kit with some nice touches. I especially like the F O R D badge across the front (self-adhesive, not waterslide) and Escort badge on the boot, and the period correct tax disc! Even the decal for the heated rear window (Always rubbish in their day....) Also I always find the lights on Belkits are really realistic.
If you ever get the chance to go to Paris there is a really good model shop in the shopping mall near the Gare de Lyon called 'Euro Maquettes' that has one of these in its display cabinet with full weathering. Really well done. (I just used some Tamiya panel line marker on the wheels and body shut lines)
See what you think.
