1932 Morgan three wheeler

Hi,


Some time ago I came across an axtraordinary vehicle - Morgan Beattleback three wheeler. I decided to scratch build one (with Matchless air colled engine) in 1/9 as soon as I finish my current motorcycle build. Only problem is that I lack reference materials. I managed to find some drawings on the Internet (some of them contain measurements) but still it is not enough to build a scale replica.

I would be grateful if anyone could help me obtaining some other reference materials f.e. scans of assembly instruction from Gunze Sangyo or Minicraft 1/16 scale (it is Barrelback, but all parts except body back part are common for both versions), or any other Morgan related reference.


I even consider purchasing a 1/16 Minicraft kit (built or unbuilt) to measure it and scale down to 1/9.

Thanks Ian, that web page was probably the first one I've visited. I did google a lot before I asked here for help. I was hoping that someone on the forum might have the assembly manual from Minicraft kit. I found some Minicraft kits on ebay (US sellers mostly), and in Amazon, I hesitate to buy one only to get the dimensions though. I'm also thinking to contact Morgan factory for help, but it is my last option.

If you buy the kit, just for the dimensions you could sell it after....

Thanks guys for your help. It took me a while to digest all the data you've linked.


Ian thanks for advise, I thought to sell it after as 1/16 is not my scale, but knowing me I just won't have the heart to do it...


For now I have all dimensions of the body. I got some good sketches of the frame but these are without scale or any dimensions. I wouldn't like to produce a sci-fi Morgan by preparing bits that are out of scale, so i guess buying Minicraft kit will be mandatory.


One more thing that would aid the model build are pictures of Morgan restoration process. So far I found only one:

Thank you Bunkerbarge for the pictures. Don't worry about their quality. I'm only two years older than them and can assure that my baby pictures are much worse (not only due to their subject ).


I see therea are two more Morgans in the background (beige and blue one), have you got any shots of these two? Both are beattlebacks and the beige one seems to be without any modifications unlike the green one (maybe except lack of fenders).


Hi Ian, thank you for your offer. As a matter of fact Morgan is still producing three wheelers. Their modern product is powered by some huge V engine with Mazda gearbox.

And they go very, very VERY fast!


Id love one but I fear my driving licence would be cut to bits after a week. :/
