    Saw one of these today...

Couldn't believe my eyes this morning, at the Martlesham roundabout, a low loader with one of these on it:

Perfect condition, but weathered like a model. Some lucky lad has some big toys!!

    Hi john
That hetzer is probably from Bruce Compton's collection I'm sure he lives around there somewhere.

Wow, what a thing to do, collect stuff like that! It looked so good, and smaller that I had imagined, is this guy's collection on display anywhere?

If i had the money i would like to own a few tanks too. The problem is the maintenance and logistics though, they arent hugely expensive to buy but the costs are in the storage and transport. Plus if you actually want to drive one you need to know about mechanics for military vehicles and have a special license

Actually Alex there's quite a few afv's you can drive legally on the road with a normal licence.

I guess so. If its not a tracked vehicle maybe some kind of APC?

Ah, that'll explain the fancy low-loader! There's fat fees to be had renting out unique stuff like this for movies and TV shows, and good luck to him, as I reckon parts are hard to come by, and many will have to be scratch built. Thanks muchly for the links below, this is just my kind of viewing!!

I'm glad you said it was on a low loader!

I was brought up in a village in Warwickshire in the 1960s
One of my neighbours had been a tank driver during WW2; now he drove armoured cars for the local TA, The Warwickshire Yeomanry

On one night exercise they got completely lost in thick fog, so they parked up for the rest of the night. When dawn broke they were in the middle of a roundabout on the A34

So they hadn't gone that far, I'm in Buckingham so half way between the two!
