I liked Ron's recent wooden race car build and I was persuaded by that smooth talking tempter to buy a wooden kit for myself. I wanted summat a bit different so this is what I chose:

Unlike Ron, who left his model in the nude - cheeky! - I wanted some colour on my build. All the parts were left in the frames for painting. I knew the burnt edges would not match the clean surfaces and leaving the parts in the frames helped me track everything. Suffice to say there was a LOT of masking and spraying involved. Just one picture to show what I mean:

Paints used were Tamiya X6, X7, X28, XF2 and Stynylrez grey primer all sprayed using my H&S Ultra.
So here is the build:

Assembly of the other storeys was the same, so straight to the finish:

Overall the build was OK apart from the curved roofs. Getting the supports level and keeping the lower roof pieces in place while working on the upper floors was a real PITA. I lost count of the number of times I had to re-fix them, and I completely gave up trying to get all the frames and decorative edges level. Still, could have been worse - I only broke 4 pieces which I managed to repair.
I reckon it looks pretty good from the other side of the room! Some of the problems I had were probably due to me being a ham-fisted oaf, and I've certainly not been put off the idea of more wooden kits in the future. As usual all C&Cs welcome.
PS You may have noticed an improvement in my pictures. A few months ago, both my cheapo camera and 'phone gave up the ghost within a week of each other. Having resisted buying a smart phone for many years as my shaky fingers find it really hard to control whether I swipe or tap the screen, I finally gave in and bought one. It was the cheapest one that Tesco had, and having had some practise with a stylus, I'm getting used to it. I can now make and receive calls and texts and take pictures (I still have to take multiple shots and pick the best due to my shakes) and put them on my PC. That's it for me! All the other stuff I want to do, I can do on my PC at home. Who on Earth can be happy watching even the funniest cat videos on a 2" screen?!
PPS This is why it's taken me over an hour to put this thread together:
