BROWN WATER NAVY-YRBM 20-"REPAIRS AT THE PONTOON"

Gentlemen... l present to you "REPAIRS AT THE PONTOON".
It's a diorama representing an AMMI Pontoon and a Fuel barge that were attached to the YRBM 20 (Yard Repair Berthing and Messing) also called the DELTA HILTON in the Mekong delta.
You will see a PBR heavily converted for repairs-rearm-refueling.
The ammi Pontoon, the Fuel Barge and also everything that is on it, fuel pump, operation hut and the beer lounge are all scratch build. Also you will note a Boston whaler that also was scratch build.
It was a rewarding and demanding but very fun
    Hope you will like it

    Greg,
I love it!!!!! But why have you got those men working in the heat, have you no heart. You can feel the heat and smell the river.
You have got to be so proud of this diorama, it is going to take a lot to beat this. The skills, research and attention to detail are a real credit to you, only one superlative - excellent.
    Cheers,
    MikeC.

      Gregory, this is just ace!
Great detail. Even down to the water coming from the engine cooling system. Great shadow composition too.

      Top work for sure.

This quite simply is one of the best build projects I have ever had the pleasure to follow. From start to finish it been a joy to see your updates. It's a shame it has had to come to an end. However the final result is simply spectacular. You must be be very pleased indeed. Well done mate:thumb2:

Gee I was so busy with Penang that I missed this finale, Greg. What a finish. The teh tarik (Pulled Milk Tea) color as we call our rivers here is spot on...more clear varnish would have sealed it proper. The shadowed pictures really show the harsh sunlight and heat we often encounter in these parts and we would hide under any shelter we could find. So it's very amusing for us Asians to see Orang Putih (White Men) sunning themselves in the heat and on the opposite as amusing for Orang Putih to see Asians huddling under shade during winter.:smiling6:

Great blog with surprizes at every page. :thumb2: But like all good things they come to an end. Thanks for sharing it with us. Your next blog on Chosin Few will be another blast so see you there.

                              Cheers,
                              Richard
