Operation 'Chastise'. The breaching of the dams in Germany during WW2, using bouncing bombs, was the brain child of Barnes Wallis.
Initial tests were a failure caused by dropping the test bombs from too great a height. The only way the bombs would survive the impact with the water and reach the dams was to fly the modified Lancaster bombers at no higher than 60ft - and at over 200mph!
Here is an un-modified Lanc. buzzing my place during low level practice flights in preparation for the real thing. The crazy pilot scaring the life out of me and the Mem Sahib by sometimes showing off flying under power lines!
I've used a recently part finished Revell 1/72 Mk I/III Lancaster. I write 'Part finished' as I didn't want to add all the diddy bits and rigging, only for it all to get all busted when the wife throws the model into the air as I take the pictures. So I did enough to make it passable for the photo shots. No superimposing or photoshop nonsense. I wouldn't know how to, anyway... :upside:
Now the 'flying' pickies have been taken, I can set about completing the model.
Here's the aircraft hurtling across the Welsh countryside. I hope you approve...

.....In colour too!.... :smiling4:

I hope you like the photos as much as I enjoyed taking them.
Thanks for looking, and keep safe everyone.
Cheers
Ron
