    1/72 T-34/76 - "Dismount!"

    Hi all,

My latest little scene, featuring a 1/72 scale T34/76 with some tank-riders.

The setting is somewhere on the Eastern front. A column of Soviet tanks is making its way along a country track, when one of the infantrymen aboard spots a German position to their left. He points it out to the commander of the T-34, who orders the turret be swiveled in that direction. As he struggles to see what the soldier has spotted, the rest of the men jump off the vehicle to take fighting positions.

    Or something like that :smiling5:

This was an experiment in a new way of doing ground textures, and a new method of snow. The snow I'm very happy with, the ground texture not so much, but I think with some more grit added to it next time, and a darker colour, it could work nicely (next time I'll integrate the tank into the base more, and use it on the vehicle as well as the road)

Any other feedback or suggestions for next time are much appreciated; I'm always looking to improve my techniques!

    Thanks,
    Greg

      Cracking model, Greg.
      Great composition too.
      Good observation about the tank...

            Thank you all!

The tank-not-in-mud situation comes from the depth of the plaster used for the base. It's the first time I tried it, and...it wasn't deep enough. So while the tank is imprinted slightly, it's not nearly enough unfortunately! Lesson learned, next time I'll colour the plaster when it's still a mixture, rather than after it dries, and that way I'll be able to use more to embed the vehicle in place.

Gregg, I find that is the great thing about building dioramas. - Lesson learned.

It happens every time with me. All great fun..

That looks really good, I wish I had the skills to tackle a dio.

10/10 Greg. Love it, great work and composition, you've noticed things you could do next time like the plaster work being coloured as you mix.
I think the winter wash is most effective. Well done .:thumb2::thumb2::thumb2:

You would love it JR............it's a Rooskie tank, and a T34 at that! Very nice Dio. Greg........like the way you dangled the power lines off the pole. :thumb2:
