Desperate measures in the skies over Germany. April 1945.

In early April 1945, The German Luftwaffe formed a special unit, The Sonderkommando 'Elbe'. Using Bf. 109 G fighters stripped of everything except a single M.G., the pilots had a simple order....

"Ram the enemy bombers out of the sky!"

I've brush painted the 109 in the wacky colours of the unit involved. No, I didn't believe the story or the cammo, but all is true and makes for fascinating reading........

Please be kind. It was very hard to even attempt to get a scale 200mph closing impact speed on camera. My wife did her best to chuck the bits summat like, and I did my best too with capturing the hurtling stuff using multi-shots on the camera.

Canopy ejected earlier, the pilot has flung himself from the aircraft.......

Yet again Ron, modelling imagination at its very very best.

Is this all carried out with mirrors 570, because this throwing all those pieces up into the air must have taken many " Takes "
I've a feeling you are using some kind of catapult to enable this . Beautiful photos as usual .
