'Ooops!, there goes the Holiday Bonus' Forklift Incident

After these photos were taken, I'd realized I did not add a crucial detail. The slight damage to the ground, when the forks came in contact. Not there would have been any major difference to the ground or tarmac, but it would make for a nice effect. I will be adding that little detail. I've already order two figures that will be placed on this diorama. When I get them and paint them, I'll post new photos, with the added details I mentioned earlier.

Nice idea and finish. Doesn't always have to be military. :thumb2:

    Cheers,

That looks great, I have seen a similar picture on line but instead of a crate it had a bomb on the forks.

Reminds me of an incident I saw at a mail order book company when I was a sales rep. Their fork truck driver was on lunch break, and one of the maintenance guys 'borrowed'
the fork truck to lift his Mini so he could weld some patches over the rusty sills, in the yard outside the maintenance workshop. He hadn't removed the carpets, which of course started burning with the heat of the weld, so he went back into the workshop to get an extinguisher. Then the fork truck driver came back from lunch, to see his truck in the car park with a Mini on the forks with smoke pouring from the windows, so he drove the truck at full speed towards a stream that ran alongside the yard, and stopped suddenly so the car slid off the forks and into the stream! At this point the mechanic came out of the workshop with an extinguisher, only to see his car in the stream in a cloud of steam!
The truck driver and the mechanic were about to fight when I left.

Love it Charles, if one were to ask what diorama they would wish to build, I don't think anyone would say
"I know! a forklift sailing off a loading dock!". You Sir are a master of sublime originality and one awesome modeler...BRAVO!
Well here comes another one of Jim's tall but true tales. As a much younger man just out of the service I landed my first job at a vinyl
cloth warehouse handling huge rolls weighing hundreds of pounds that could only be moved about by forklift.
They were strapped on pallets and stacked on huge steel shelving many feet high.

Well, I came around a corner rather quickly and the corner of the pallet I was carrying caught the corner of a pallet on the bottom shelf.
Tearing down an entire section and sending tons of rolls crashing down on me! If it were not for the protective roll cage
I would have been squashed like a bug. One roll came at such an angle that it sailed through the cab and mangled the steering wheel.
I watched it "float" by as if in slow motion just inches from my nose, I sat in shock for a moment or two and realized what had just happened
I did not get even a scratch! Just one of many incidents in my life when I should have been killed..,The wife says "God don't want you"

                            Jim.
