I think that the faces are well painted.
I've read and watched a few articles and tutorials on figure painting recently and one school of thought seems to be to suggest the presence of eyes rather than try to perfectly detail them especially in 48 and 35th scale. I've got some cross eyed Warhammer figures staring at me (I think) from the shelf, so I'll be trying this approach next time.
Thanks for the kind words Jason. I hear what your saying about eyes, maybe just some well placed pupils in black. Ill practice on some old figs ive got.
I tried black for pupils and they just looked too harsh and beady.
I went with either light grey / light blue / tan and got better results.
Cream for the "whites" of the eye looks more realistic too.
The problem I have is the dimensions and positioning ... apparently its better to have them looking to the side rather than straight ahead .. so the experts say
Food for thought there Colin, ive heard the same thing about the eyes looking off to one direction. Great tip on the pupil colour. I like the idea of a light blue.
