thanks for the comments chaps, very much appreciated!I thought about going very heavy on the deck 'staining' but I wasn't brave enough and just ended up trying to replicate sawdust covering the odd 'fluid' stain which I attempted to show in the last few images.
I think it works well Colin, besides the dio you have have done doesn't look at 'action' stations, the crew look too relaxed. I like this though and maybe, just maybe, I may have a go myself.
Thanks Tony, must have been some dodgy biscuit and soup
I don't think the food would necessarily need to be dodgy Col. As I understand it, at that time mess facilities aboard ship consisted of a series of plates literally nailed to the tables. Food was served and eaten from them and 'washing up' was done by throwing a bucket of sea water over them after meals. Makes me wonder how they survived at all - let alone just restricting themselves to a few odd fluids on deck!
Ta for that info Dave, we've just been discussing how bad it must have been aboard ship at this time, no wash facilities as such, dietary restrictions, lack of decent sleeping facilities etc.
Anyway the cannon dio is off to its new home now, I've given it to the father in law who's mad on history of this era.
