I'm calling this done , I put it in a box with some crushed up kitty litter

This was a throughly enjoyable build although for tamiya it's one of the worst but that still makes it better than most

The kit goes together well enough but it's not spot on there are some areas that do take some time to get right , the skirts are one and the cupola doesn't fit you will have to file this to make it fit properly , the plastic tracks are pretty good but they don't fit 100% my advice if anyone has a crack at it is build from bottom up that way the gap in the top is covered by the skirts

Now I've always thought that tamiya instructions are amongst the best but this has a few little errors , the hatches on the cupola , it tells you to make three without actually telling you why and seeing as the first two are opposit to one another you fit them then you realise that the third one it tells you to build sold go on it and not the one you did

Paint instructions are iffy you have to be very careful you don't mix the camo up , I did in one area and it through it all out but it still looks ok and only a rivet counter would pick you up on it

Over all it's a great kit and turns out looking good with some great detail

I really like how you've done the Tilly Alan, that looks really nice.

I would like to see you try the gloss coat method before your wash though, just to bring out the detail - those many many rivets for instance would pop right out!

The crew figures are great too ...although my eye keeps being drawn to his hand resting on the turret roof

Might I suggest that as you finish each kit in the dio, you post a separate thread in the ' completed ' section? That way everyone will see your excellent work!

Cheers Patrick I appreciate that , I have tried the gloss clear approach and I couldn't get it to work , the wash separated and didn't stick wear I wanted it to I don't know why as it doesn't do that with water based so if I'm doing something wrong or missing something I'm all all ears at what advice you could offer

I did consider that but I didn't want to seem pushy or egotistical that's not my style but seeing as you've suggested it I'll post it up and see how it goes

I've a problem now guys , I've just started the layout for the base and found I can't incorporate everything I want on the base so I need help

I have two vehicles I wanted to add but now I can only add one if I want it to look like a staging area

This is the base with what I've done so far

I want to put an mg post in the left corner

Here's what I want to put in it but I can only add one so it doesn't look too crowded

and I have these if I can get both in that's great but one might have to suffice

so I need to know which of these to choose

I real think that you will be able to add all,

in between the building and the well will fit the jeep,

or the trailer and gas tank,

the carrier close to the well as its small,

or you could put the jeep on the side between the door and corner,

as you said its a staging area, and would be quite full, with that division,

I can get them all on but but with figures , equipment, a road so it's taking up space

I suppose I could put the building at a right angle

                    or in the centre

I think the right angle fits better

I've thickened the walls of the building now and it looks much better, I used styrofoam pizza bases for this

just some filing to be done and this will be painted

looks much better with the added thickness to the wall,Alan

and as for the placement of the building/well ,I do like the very first pic

with it on an angle in the back left corner,

I've been messing with the base today and I think this is about the only way it works and I think I can get the jeep and UC on it

I'll just put some desert scrub on it and start on the figures and extras

I've done the tires on the trailers

first I painted them in a dust grey

then I used a oil black and wiped most off

and finally finished off with the dust grey dry brush
