Well, I've been humming and hahing about a Diorama for ages, saw some lovely ones at Muckleburgh Tank museum, and finally ordered the above Tamiya kit to make my first attempt.
I became interested in the gun after building my Nashorn, which had a similar gun in it, and I have some amazing hi-res pics of german artillery for reference, so it seemed a good choice. also the fact that it came with lots of extras, made it particularly suitable for me.
Started by making a base with DAS clay, cat litter and some Tamiya sandbags...
The sandbags were a bit of a disappointment, far too regular in shape - for that money they could have had a bit of variety in there, but hey. I built up a wall with them (the curved layout shown on the box simply cant be made with these...
started painting the base and opicking out individual stones, using oil paints.
Lots of wash coats in oil, to try and get a good colour - too yellow still!
This is getting closer. weathered the sandbags and time to do some chipping and washes for the gun.
I have about 5 or 6 figures - and a BMW Motorcycle to paint too - will post these as I do them. So far I'm really enjoying this!
