Hi all,
Just thinking about a potential diorama and wanted some advise about kits/figures I can use.
The idea is that it's a Spitfire that's belly-landed after being hit by flak during a 1941 fighter sweep over northern France. The cockpit is open and the pilot is sprinting for the cover of the trees while a German patrol deploys from its transport at the field gate.
To keep size down, I'd prefer to do this in 1/72 and of course there is the "running pilot" figure from the standard RAF Personnel set I can use for my pilot and various selections of German Infantry for the patrol. The downside is I might need to do some interesting stuff with the Spit kit to get an open cockpit with the side door down.
So, my question is - what transport might a routine German patrol in France be using during the winter of 1941-42? A half-track, an armoured car, a motorbike/sidecar or two? I have no real concept of how large and well-armed they were...
