"MEDIZINER" 1/16 Dio

Hi all, this will be my first attempt at a dio, this was to go with my 1/16 tiger dio but i have decided with all i wanted to put in it it would make the Dio as big as a table top and once it's fin what would i do with it ?. so i have decided to brake it down to small Dio's.

This is the start, but i have a long way to go, the base is very rough but it give's you the scenario, i have yet to put an explosion just in front of the figure.

Well here goes hope you like.

Well thats it so far, the coat needs a lot of work at the back and the figure is not the final coluer but i've made a start, it's taken me 4 days so far i hope you like.

I have not seen a 1/16 figure being altered before. I looks like you have done this a few times.

Could you perhaps go into the details a bit on how you do it.

The Great coat Looks great, and I am sure once the base is done and the figure planed, I will understand the slightly odd way he is standing.

Hi Ian thanks for your comments, sorry to say looks can be deciving this is my first attempt at this sort of thing. i have just finished the coat and painted it (bottom half only) the top half i will re-paint but i an not happy with the position of the right arm, he will not be carring the MG42 Machine gun he will have the MP40 instead. the scenario is a morter shell explods in front of him as he is walking on patrol, this is the reason for the odd wat he is standing, the force of the explosion is forcing him back.

He has sustainded shrapnal wounds to Lt shoulder & head, the helmet will be placed off the head & to the rear with a shrapnal hole & dents in it.

I will put blast effect to the figure to bring it to life and the surrounding as well.

I think i have chosen the wrong figure for my first attempt as there are to many restrictions with him wearing the coat.

I have a 1/16 Infantryman that i have grate plains for so when i do this one i will post it in more detale step by step, the base is very crude and needs a lot of work, this will not be easy for me as it's a first, i need to find out how to get the affect of snow the rest i can figure out.

          John

              Starting to make the base.

Dry stone wall made of gravel.

Start of the base of the explosion made with clear silicone sealant.

If I can say a couple of things about the use of silicon sealer. I have never have any luck getting paint, or anything else for that matter, to adhere to it. Even a silicon based resin. Be aware of this before you go much further with it.

Ron (spaner) is a great believer in good old tile adhesive. The stuff used to stick the tiles on the bathroom walls with. The good points are that its cheap. You can mix the amount you need and it can also be coloured. For the stone wall use could make it an earthy brown for example. Those are some nice stone chips you have found there by the way!

The explosion. From what I can see. (clear silicon on a light base and my eyes!) the effect is there, but again I am worried about finishing it. I have not tried it myself but I have seen and read about 'splashes' made from crown shapes cut from the bottom of plastic bottles, for a mud splash I would think you could use that tile adhesive again.

I hope you take this as a helpful hint and don't think I'm trashing your work. I just live by that old saying the cure is prevention.

Thanks Ian for the advice, i understand what u are saying about painting over silicone i will put paint into the silicone and see what the outcome will be, i have tryed it with white bathroom sealant and this seem to work very well but u need to but a lot of paint in it to achive the right coloure as the white makes it lighter so i thought i would try the clear.

As this is my first effort i welcome all the advice i can get whatever it is i would not be offended.

I can't believe i've missed this one, great work so far. I love the idea with the clear silicone sealant i'll have to give it a go sometime, looking forward seeing this one in it's full glory.

                        Have fun, John

This wall is just a practise run for the dio base, not bad for my first effort (if i do say so myself) lol

After a lot of thought i have decided that my machine gunner's right arm looks naff so i have decided to amputate it and reposition it. Pic's to follow of it in new position.

You may like to know that fritz has had his operation and all went well and has made a full recovery.
