Jedi Battle

    Good evening everybody!

I have been quite busy at work these months, but I have found some time to paint the last figures I received as Christmas presents.

    Let me introduce you:

The figures come from a Spanish brand called Knight Models. They are about 28 mm tall, more or less like the Games-Workshop miniatures.

    Here you have Darth Vader:

    And Anakin:

Although we already know that they're the same character, since their size is so small, I thought it would be great to place them in a small diorama. I would like to place them in a typical Star Wars style set, more or less like this one:

The figures are moulded in white soft metal, and after a first glimpse, you can detect some mould lines that have to be erased:

The head, left arm and lightsaber come apart:

With a sharp blade I removed them from the metal bit:

This is my favourite glue for metal and resin figures. You have to mix the two compounds, and it takes a while to dry, but once dried, is very tough and much more strong thet the usual cyanocrylate glue:

This is the look of Vader after all:

          Hi folks!

Now it's time for young Anakin, quite easy, as I only had to glue the lightsaber beam:

As you can see, I have sprayed a first coat of black, and I also have sprayed Vader:

A second layer will cover all the corners right?

Then, as I usually do to find the light spots, I have airbrushed a subtle layer of white from above both figures:

I have been focusing on Vader, as I rather prefer him over young Anakin, so I painted over a few layers of grey with a detail brush:

Then I painted the mask and boots with bright black and the details, such as the chest "computer" and the hilt:

Now, let's power the Dark Side! first of all, I painted the light saber beam with white, in order to obtain a brighter red afterwards:

Then I painted the red and I airbrushed some red on the cloak to imitate the glowing effect of the beam:

          Next step: Anakin

          Regards!

Thanks everybody! I'm glad you like it so far!

Let's continue with Anakin. Unfortunately some days ago it fell off from the table and I couldn't glue the lightsaber beam to the handle anymore, so I had to place part of a toothpick instead:

Meanwhile, I started to investigate how to build the scenario and while I was cooking my dinner I sae my perfect set:

I know it looks like a salad centrifugator, but where you see a kitchen app, I see something similar to a carbonite freezer.

I started cutting up some extra bits of plastic:

With the parts I previously removed, I tried to build a structure to put in a second level:

Then I built the floor with a plastic sheet:

And those tons of Games-Workshop's bases are perfect for making a nice looking stair:

Don't think I forgot about Ani, I just started painting his face and hair:

Painting some details and first washes:

                        And that's all for now!

                        Hope you like it!

The idea on the base is genial, mate

Well done! Keep the good work coming!

                          Cheers

                            Thanks Polux!

Well I have been playing a little bit with the airbrush this week, since I want to have some lights effect in the scene.

Let me show you the result:

First some shadows in the main ring and the stairs:

Then an orange/red light coming from beneath the grid:

Then I've glued a red plastic sheet underneath and I've airbrushed some blue in the walls:

And don't think I've forgotten about Anakin:

And since he is going to be right over the grid, it needed some reflexions coming from beneath:

But it looked a little bit dumb with a toothpick, so it needed some green to transform it in a 1st grade lightsaber:

Now it's time to put everything in place, but the glue still needs some time to dry, so tomorrow I'll post the results in the "finished dioramas" page.

                            Hope you like it!

                            Regards!!
