Some more detailing work tonight using some bits from my railway spares box so this engine has had cut up sections of buck eye couplers, screw links and ETH sockets glued on with some additional lead wire for the outside of the compressor case.

A section of plasticard has been trimmed and glued for the fixed firewall that divides the compressor and combustion chamber. Next I need to reprofile the combustion chamber/turbine section and figure out a way of modelling the back end of the turbine.

Just found this Rick. Great bit of imagination. That picture is quite something and fired a spark.

It's funny how inspiration strikes when you least expect it Laurie. The photo captures a moment in time of the Royal Air Force and of a setting not usually scene by the public which are even rarer to see these days with the amount of contractorisation around. I always found the look of bewilderment on the faces of civvies when they visited AMF at RAF Kinloss and saw the Nimrods on jacks with engine out and panels missing.

Yes I like, when visiting a museum, where they have an aircraft in a corner carrying out a renovation work. I produced some time back a short film on the Mosquito. Amazing the number of very interesting photos around. The prize one was a hut where pensioners sitting around a table, chatting, were putting instruments and other bits and pieces together.

I noticed that the down pipes I fitted to the upright girders didn't have retaining brackets so I took them off and made some from plastic strip - but I seem to have mislaid one!

One small development with the engine where I added a translator sleeve to the front of the engine, this also disguises the join between the fan disc and the tube it is glued to.

That's a miniature clothes peg by the way and the paint pot is for scale comparison.......small.
