Awesome looking tree Graham. That's going to really bring your diorama to life.

The base for the UHU is underway. I have decided not to use the two GI figures but to use the 'Reading Newspaper' figure, but he won't be reading a newspaper

Also. I wanted to put a hedge across the back but haven't worked out how to do it yet, might become a fence but I really want a hedge.

Got to add some longish static grass to the groundwork and some other earthy ground effects. To help with this, I have made a static grass applicator tonight but, like an idiot, I don't have any static grass to test it ops:

If the applicator works, I will show it, if not I will bin it.....

Anyway here we have the start of it.

Nice work Graham. The hedge would be just like the tree but without the trunk

Superb looking tree Graham , If you can make a tree look this good then a hedge will be no problem, cheers tony

That's a great job Ian just use the same material for the hedge as you used for the tree foliage.

That looks great Graham, might I suggest that you churn up the ground behind the 251 along its track? Just to give it a sense of its travels

Good job , again! Can't wait to see it finish. I really liked, the tree, soldier, armed car! I don't know what to look first.

This really is looking good Graham.

The figure looks so much better in place(better than it did in the individual pics).

The tree is great looking to me it looks well like a tree.

                      And the vehicle is excellent.

                      Overall,coming together real well.

Three sections of the hedge underway. I think these sections will cover what I want. Just need plumping up a bit

This is something very difficult to show but I have made a static grass applicator from an electronic fly swat and a metal tea strainer (search YouTube for loads of videos how to do this)

The idea is to make the static grass strands stand on the end so they look a bit more like grass. Home made ones lack the power of the commercial ones but this cost me £6 to make compared to between £40 and £100 for the big boys. If I was building a railway layout then the investment of the top end models would be worth it but for the odd diorama and vignette, this will do me.

As I said, not easy to show but picture one is sprinkled on

This is using the aplicator. Not a huge difference but, to me anyway, it looks more ordered and certainly looks more natural.

There is a huge difference Graham.

The first pic(without applicator) is lifeless where as the 2nd is much more alive.

The hedge is in place and some rough groundwork under the tree and hedge. Most of the short grass is in place, I need some clumps of longer ready type grass in places to give more interest.

                                The figure is now completed

Yep, he is darning his sock with some 'liberated' red wool..... oh the horror of war......

Just noticed some damage on his hand holding the needle so that will need touching up.

This fits into a black A4 picture frame to finish it off but at some point I need to fill and paint the edges to tidy it up. Then I will decide on the final position of the 251 and do some track damage to the grass.
