    UPDATE::

    Not much time to work on stuff but did manage to do some roofing and get a wash on, will be making shake shingles from paper card. I like this scratch building stuff...it really gets the brain going.....Pitifully slow progress I'm afraid :/

      The scratch building certainly does that Jim gets you thinking out of the box quite a bit. This is coming along very nicely sir.

          Jim, I'm doing a bit of 'catch up'....super work and painting of the building and base.

          You've found by making your own buildings etc., all you need is imagination - and you've got that by the bucket load!

          Nice one.....

              UPDATE:::

              Getting some preliminary colors down, did shake shingles, they look ok I guess. Put ponchos on Ivan and Petrov and dressed Fritz and Heinz with just hints of tissue to cover seams and joints and to lend some realism to tattered clothing. As the story goes, much older Fritz tried to talk young and impetuous Heinz into sitting it out and let the Rooskies pass, but the sounds of the fast approaching cannonade made him bolt in terror. Fritz could not stand to let him go it alone and reluctantly followed, only for both to be cut down in seconds. Poor souls,Fritz leaves a wife and three children behind and Heinz's Poor mother mercifully will not have to bare the vision of his golden locks which she so loved now mangled and blood soaked as he lay dying..............CHEERS!......Jim ^_^

                          Thanks Ken, It's my first attempt at such a project and still more colors to layer into base, and need to start figuring on rubble etc...still seems to be a big void in roadway, will have to figure something out, but nothing to detract from main theme (too much)  9_9 . Lotsa drama in this one.....what else is new? 9_9 ..........Jim

                              This is coming together very very nicely Jim. As far as filling the space can I suggest adding a third Russian , that way you will be showing who is winning and who is losing.

                              A Russian pulling a heavy MG on wheels ( if you have one in your box ) who shows no interest in his latest victims ?     Just an idea, but it's your vignette, so your choice.

                               Keep up the great work and I can't wait for the next update

                                Nice work JIm.

                                Regarding the 'Big Void', how about moving the corpse in the foreground closer to the pavement, this will concentrate the figures. I reckon any more figures might make the viewer's attention wander from the original concept - the single figure in the doorway.

                                Then make a suitable sized crater in your excellent cobbles to replicate a mortar hit, which could have done the initial damage to the soldiers caught in the blast. Then add your rubble ect. or......

                                Make a small stone wall from the foam board, say 3 to 4 feet high stick it along the joint on the cobbles nearest us, then perhaps put some rubble this side of the wall.

                                Just brain storming really, Jim!
