Good Evening Rocketeers,
I know, I know...It has been a while since there was any news from me on the project. With work and it getting dark so early here in the Fatherland, it kind of shoots you down a bit...BUT, I have good news and bad news to share,
The good news is I have ordered one of those Brightlight 84 LED @ 21 watt light thingys w/table clamp and dimmer that many of you folks swear by. Now the night will become day at the table (don't have a bench) and I can accomplish more.
The bad news is I still have about a year and a half before I can retire. Oh, I know you all thought I was going to say I binned the project. And while we are on that subject I must apologise again for my slowness and lack of real progress on this. I am going to try to do a weekly update as opposed to more frequent ones. This has been dragging on for months and seems like there is no end in sight too. Anywho,
PaulE, Dude 2 and Fernando - That is an excellent idea, but does have a couple of drawbacks. The kit motor is not the best detail wise and you would need a lot of work to bring it up to snuff. Then you would have to hack up an engine panel and the hood to show it. lastly, operational units fueling a V2 for launch would have to be on the lookout for air attacks, ensure that the fueling goes quickly and probably would not do maintenance during this particular part of the mission. It would be done after the launch when the vehicles were in hiding and waiting for the next launch mission...
Greg, Paul and Jim - Thank you so much Gentlemen! I am back to normal health wise, the mojovation is still very high and with the new lamp, I hope to increase my building output...
Rick - Thanks Buddy! Drive on with your Hanomag and if I can help in any way, give me a shout...
Stevie - I really can't do too much with the groundwork as I need to get all of the vehicles/trailers done first. Then I can approximate how much room will be needed for a base. This will be set in the woods as most launch sites were. I am also not 100% sure which country the launch scene will be set in. Holland, Belgium or Germany are the choices. I am leaning towards a setting in Den Hague in Holland. Thanks my man and wait till I start the 3 Opel Blitz Tankwagens...
John - I don't know if that was a good idea Sir. They do have some pretty good flicks on there and this project could get boring before it gets better! Welcome aboard and thank you for the kind words…
Gary - Thank you too Sir and glad to have you back. I hope all is well up in your neck of the north woods. Take care...
So, here we are with a tiny update. There is actually a bit more done that the picture will show. That's right, I said picture = 1 each photograph. This is why I ordered that new high tech lamp thingy,
And a lousy pic it is. I plan on leaving the driver's door open on the Hanomag (on the left) towing the Meillerwagen. The other Hanomag will be towing the LOX trailer and (with luck) will have a driver sitting inside. A quick note on this vehicle. As you cans see, the Hanomag had a rather large motor. A 6 cylinder, 8.5 liter diesel putting out 100 HP at 1500 RPM. Top speed was 45 kilometers per hour with the 4 speed transmission and 57 kph with the 5 speed transmission. It was not an off road vehicle due to it's rear wheel drive, but had one hell of a pulling power...
I thank you all again for looking in. I hope to get a lot more done Sat. and Sun. and maybe a few more pics too. Abuse is most welcome and have a super weekend!!!
Prost

Hi Allen
A good light will make a big difference. It won't give you any more time but will make things easier.
18 months to retirement. Not long. Retirement is great although I am still short of time.
No worries about slow progress. This is a really impressive piece of modelling.
Model on and enjoy.

Good Evening Friends Of Things That Shoot Up In The Air,
You got to love this dark and dreary weather we have had as of late. I haven't really done a thing further due to the lack of light. More about this later, so first...
Dude 2 - Thanks buddy and the eagle has landed in Bamberg today!!!
Si - Thanks too my friend. I am feeling a lot better and trying to get in some bench time too. Really glad you are still here too. See below...
PaulE - We finally hit the paint shop with one of the beauties and thanks for being there...
Jim - Yea, time flies Sir and I am a bit scared of retirement, but after almost 50 years of work, I am ready. I can understand your point too with a lovely grand daughter who can take up a lot of your time, the bench has to wait...I appreciate your support so much and your patience too...
Paul - Thank you my man!!! I think it's going to get better now anyway and I've started saving up my money too...
Stevie - Damn buddy, a V2 dio every week is a lot to ask from an old man!!! I think we might get 1 done every three months though. Only 17 more years??? Wow Bro, that sounds like a lifetime to me. All the best...
Mick - Thanks Sir, but we still need 36 hour days to get thing done around here. Hope all is well too...
So, a small update is in order once again. Short and sweet with 2, that's correct, 2 piccies this time. I shot a coat on one of the twins last weekend when we had some daylight. I used MM (Mission Models) late war dark yellow, MMP-019 straight out of the hissy stick. No thinning and with no primer on the bits. I have never used primer on a kit yet. I'm afraid I'll mess up or put too thick of a coat on it. I have had no probs so far. The MM shoots sweet at 18 PSI and clean up is a breeze with water and IPA...
I took a pic last Sunday evening and as usual it was lousy. I had ordered the Daylight EN1190 LED lamp last week and have been waiting for it to arrive. My old lamp was about a foot long with a coil bulb. I have had it for 22 years and it has never needed a bulb change. I guess you could say that I have gotten my money's worth out of it. Today, my ship came in and WOW, what a surprise and a difference the new lamp made. 84 LEDs @ 21 watts, energy class A+, multi step dimmer and more. A big thanks to John Race for the info as I had forgotten which lamp it was. He hooked me up and also said that JimR and some others swore by them. I'm a believer now too!!!!!!!!!!!
Enough Blah Blah...…...I give you the pic from last Sunday evening,

I now give you the pic from this evening,

Hell I couldn't believe my eyes. What a difference!!! And I can actually see what I'm doing no matter what the weather outside is. Moggelling is going to be fun this winter. Enough said.
Thanks for looking and have a great Thursday evening. It's off to Stammtisch for me later. A Schnitzel and a cold one is always good!
Prost
