    Moving on.
This shot shows the basic construction of phase one, the lower level around the village square, more or less completed. The two bridges are fixed in place. You can just make out the stone steps either side of the wooden bridge and I've done a bit more general groundwork painting too.. This view better shows how I modelled the damage, getting progressively worse the nearer the strong point. which will obviously be the remaining two rendered buildings in the raised area.
This was taken earlier than the previous picture. No road surface over the stone bridge. Also, no 'lid' on the water above the weir. But I hope you get the general construction sequence.

Next up will be the actual stronghold construction - more like dis-truction .....:hungry:

    Cheers.
    Ron

          Ron,
The overhead view really puts things in perspective. Multiple levels are extremely interesting. I'm looking forward to the next phase of your project!:thumb2:
          Cheers,
          Rick H.

If I spent two fortunes buying ready made ruins, and a dozen or so lifetimes building them, I couldn't create anything that looks as natural as this. You definitely got an 'eye' for layout young Ron!

Thanks ever so much for all your amazing comments on my model. It makes the building of it all the more worth while.

I've managed to find a picture I thought was lost. It's out of sync., but shows all the buildings loose fitted before I added detail to them. Even the paving slabs by the weir are still flying!

Thanks again for the brilliant posts chaps!

Right, on to the strong point. this is the main target area, so I've modelled a lot more damage to the buildings. No treasure hidden in these!

                    This was the officer's quarters.

                    Before.

A few hits later. Plenty more work yet, but my initial 'finger bomb' did it's job!

                    Cheers.

                      Hi Ron
Looking better and better. When you 'finger bomb' a building do you glue all the damaged bits in place or just leave it resting where it goes?

                        Ron,
It appears your "pinkie" bombing raid was successful and the results have made a "great impact". Well Done!
                        This just gets better,
                        Rick H.

Thanks Jim and Rick H. Glad you both like the progress.

Jim - With most of the roof timbers already glued before the 'bomb' hits the building, it's just a matter of gluing one or two wayward bits to knit the thing together again.

If the build is stable enough I sometimes just leave it alone.

                          Cheers boys.

Thanks Ron. I kinda thought that that would be the way you worked. Makes sense and looks great.

                              Thanks Jim.

Here is the second and final seriously damaged building. This was used as a billet for the small garrison of troops.

I used rub on letters and then scratched them with my modelling knife. The slogan is scratched on by a G.I. with his bayonet once the village was liberated. Hence the wrong spelling (Ain't that right Dave?!) Painted with cheap acrylics.

Plenty of rubble still to add.
