Thanks for the great posts folks.
Tim - Unfortunately I don't do 'idea' sketches, and all the paper templates I screw up and throw away. If I do any more buildings I'll save the paperwork and get in touch. Sorry Bud.
Allan - That's a blow old lad! I'm sure you'll find some somewhere on your travels.
Si - Pepperoni. I like it!
John - Lath and plaster and wattle and daub, if you please!
Ian - Thanks good buddy. Nice to have you along.
Monica - Thanks lady, always nice to read your comments on my stuff,
Cheers all.

After my tentative steps with the half timber sitting on top of some render, I decided to have a go at a full blown Normandy half timber house. The only limitation to the quirky half timber work is your imagination, 'cos anything goes!
I used the same method as the previous building. I've changed the colour of the rendering slightly to add a bit more variation.
I really pushed the boat out and made a scale truss from a split down scrap bit of polystyrene to support the ridge board. I've also added 1st floor walls and doorways. Wall plates and two big purlins fitted ready for the roof spars and ceiling joists
Here is the result so far of what I envisage will become a shop of some sort.

Thanks Tim. I'll keep the sketches in mind.
As this building will be a shop, I've made a small canopy over the main shop window. The slates are thin card. The windows and door are also fitted. I made each one in a single piece from plastic card. I purposely hit and missed when painting these to keep with the old look. I've also glazed the lower windows using clear cellophane.

O.K., roof spars and ceiling joists fitted. The half that's not timbered out is all part of a cunning plan wot I have thought of ......
One more to go - I think.
Thanks for looking in.

Cheers Jim.
Thanks for the compliment. I think it fair to write that everyone on here is inspired somehow or other by everyone else ....:thumb2:
Even creating their own cunning plan!
