Cheers guys. Just plodding on with it as SWMBO is watching Kylie @ Glasto on tv. Not my kind of thing. Now if it was Lacuna Coil then i'd be 'glued' to it.

Added first layer of 2mm grass. Will move on to the 4/6mm next.

Found this old thread again so i'll post the pics of my progression here rather than 'cluttering up' the "What's on the bench" thread. Can't believe i started this dio way back in 2019!

Here are the pics of what i've done since the last entry on here.

Never did add the 4mm and 6mm static grass way back then so this is what it's like now i have.

Got hold of some lichen and dried it out. Next time i'm going to use Glycerine to preserve them as the reindeer lichen has become very brittle. I pulled the various lichens apart into branches/bushes of the size i wanted.

Painted with Tamiya Flat Earth. Maybe next time i'll hit it with a lighter brown from above to give some different contrast.

Added three different types of fine foam scatter tonight. Started off with Alpine Green as the dark base colour. Then added Mid-summer green. And then finally hit it very lightly with Bristlecone Green.

Two years isn't so bad to rescusitate an old build progress. Good you've done that and looking good Alan.

                Cheers,
                Richard

Best thing in this instance is polyfiller Alan.

Plaster it in with a sponge & wipe away . Not to much water with the polyfiller. You can alwas wipe down with a wet sponge to get the effect. You will still retain the plank look but it will look more authentic.

The polyfilla will also to a certain extent fill the balsa.

Paint. Best airbrushed washes just keep at it varying the depth of paint in various areas. Some planks will be darker than other. After the main washes use a brush with the same colour wash to darken some of the planks. Some darkening for oil leaks but definetly only feint. Plus if you can stuff in a bit of greener in the plank joints on the perimeter will look good.

                      My take.

                      Laurie

                        Hi Alan
After all this time it deserves to be brought down from the shelf. Looking good.

Was in work from 3am today so when i got home i decided to do a little bush arranging. Also have a plan to add two trees if i can make them work. Need to paint up the bushes and then add the scatter. But the finish line is (hopefully) not too far off now.

Nice work Alan nice to see dioramas are becoming much more popular.

They make such a difference to our models when displayed in their working evnviroment.

I've always wanted to do one but just never had the skill or 'balls' to do one. So i just decided to dive in head first when i started this. Now i'm trying to finish it. But. It's going to be something i do again now as i'm really enjoying the challenge
