I've always been interested in these great track engines and the pulling power that they had.

The Russian were in need of help when they tried to modernise farming.
The Chelyabinsk Tractor plant was a project of the first 5 year plan The plant was founded in 1932; the first product was a 60 hp tracked tractor C60 .

The ongoing years showed a need for a better machine, so imports started of the Caterpillar Sixty, in fact a total of of 1370 in total were ordered. Soon made under licence a total no of 68,997 were made from 1932 till 1937. It is not known how many were ordered by the Red Army.

with an engine developing 72 HP at 650 rpm and with a draw bar rating of 5.6 tons it was perfect for the Army in pulling large 122mm guns and anything else that was heavy.

I have some Russian civilians in stock and thought I would do a village scene. So your all welcome.
Tickets as always from Mrs Jones Ticket Agency

Hi Dom and welcome to a Rabble build. There will be plenty of banter, and off shoots of topics. :flushed::smiling2:.

Hi Jim. I've never built one before, the only knowledge I had of them was on line. Their agent is LZ Models , with whom I have delt, they do a lot of resin add on kits. Funny enough they made the engine for the ChTZ 61 .

Instruction look good, very thin lines denoting where subassemblies are to go .

Plastic seems a little thin in some sections, detail is as expected , sharp, and nicely moulded, does feel softer than some , rather like MinArt.
Some very fine holes and matching pins surprisingly they match up very well .
                    Started on the engine.

Quite a bit of very small PE don't know if I can manage some of it , but will have a go.
While some sections were drying in the engine U started on the chassis, it's square !!!!!

Leaving off several lower parts as I can see them being knocked as the build continues.
One problem so far, cut a pipe section too short :fearful::flushed::worried:

Came out well , to make sure it fitted I drilled a hole in one part, then pushed it into the hole and then pulled back to get a tight fit CA'd and carried on.

Also built up the rad .

That's it for today, don't know how much I'll get done tomorrow as have gardening and a small 1/1 job sanding the edge of a glass fibre roof and hopefully reapplying the resin mix when there is a full days sun .

                    All comments welcome as usual.
                    John .

                      John,
A great start. looks like it will build up to a great kit. The figures will set it off nicely.

Thanks Paul, normal over gluing has started, even have a smaller brush and still manage it.

                          Evening Mr R,
I remember how complex the other dozer build you did was.
I see this looks to have a lot of fine delicate parts too!
Even with two good eyes, most of us would find it challenging so I tip my hat to you for taking this on
Great start though.....keep it coming :thumb2:
