1/700 scale IJN Ships make over

Okay got one arm out of the straight jacket and managed to paint the little buggers not without dropping one and resticking the parts again. My fingers aren't what they used to be so had a little help from reverse tweezers and blutac.

Dipping in Future next for decaling.

There's a way to apply the PE railing on battleships. The deck components are separate so just invert them and trace the edges on a piece of paper and use that as a template to bend the PE railing if you want a long stretch to be done. Smaller areas you use a divider to measure the lengths and cut to size. Approach sections in sub assemblies and have frequent breaks in between. Treat it like a long project and you'll get it done.

Just did a wash to dirty the rather clean paint job before the dip in the Future bath..


Good thing I did a lighter coat of paint as the Future varnish tends to darken colors.

Okay decaling done and after a coat of matt varnish that turned out looking satin which is just nice...

Some how these Hinamaru's don't have a white border round it.

I just couldn't let this go 'cos hinamarus on dark backgrounds distinctly had white outlines so I scoured my stash for the right decals and replaced them...

Had to go through the whole process of Future dipping, application and decal juice to lock it in. It's now waiting for a matt coat.

Testing out on the dio...they look okay. Will need rope tie downs and perhaps a ladder for maintenance crew to fill petrol...

Started painting the figures. They are now too uniformed. I will do some in khaki and blue for those painting the ship and manning the AA guns.

Will coat them with enamel varnish so they are scratch proof.

You're right about that brush Tim, I use that as a kicker applicator for CA and was a stand in for size comparison. I used a Daler Rowney No.0 brush without the magnifier.
They're the Village People fan club...they keep popping up everywhere. :tears-of-joy:
