Definitely will not try my previous old school way Richard

thank you Paul, John and Tim

had a chance to paint the artillery..this is the result of my second attempt as the first attempt with the airbrush and just trying to freehand the camouflage resulted in rather large patches of white that just looked too big for my liking .... especially on such a small scale piece.

It’s not my best airbrush work but I am hoping that I can soften some of those lines and after a wash or two of grey and blue I think I’ll get the result I was hoping for.

does anyone have any tips for this small of a scale camouflage painting with an airbrush?

Its extremely difficult to do camo airbrushed on the braille scale. I usually coat the model in hairspray then use masks/putty and do the pattern that way. Any over spray can then be easily removed with water because of the hairspray underneath. I think your work is fine and once weathered down it will look the part. Keep up the great work my friend

Sorry I'm really late in on this most excellent project of yours Joe. I must have been drunk and asleep in the corner.....Super job on the gun etch and camo, but the house is tops Sir. May I ask what you used for the thatch on the roof???

One day I have to give painting figgies a try as your bunch look fantastic!!!

                    Prost

using different colors of field grass and kind of just blended them together on the bench before cutting them into lengths and then attached them with white "Elmers" glue which was diluted a bit. I then sprayed everything with Woodland Scenics scenic cement to stiffen all of the thatching up prior to the start of the snowfall

Hi Joe, I recently had a look at woodland scenic products at a local art shop. Quite a wide range of interesting stuff well packaged and suited for times like these when venturing out is quite restricted. I'm a scrounger and most of the stuff I picked up when I see on my travels into woods and DIY shops. Lichen, moss, sand and stones are free. The tall grass I get from cheap Chinese broad varnish brushes.
Anything imported would affect pricing so I guess what's cheap and expensive here is the reverse over on your end.

                            Cheers,
                            Richard

Okay well here is the finished product... icicles for Mr Race,,,(hoping that he won’t bring out the blow torch to melt them all… Although the troops might like the warmth)

all in all I am pleased with the end result to this little vignette
