When I was musing over the lack of detail on the Heller HMS Hood, I suddenly remembered I had built KG5 a few years ago, shoved it into the loft and promptly forgot all about it - until yesterday!:upside:
I also realised that I had not taken any shots of her construction. So for that I apologize.
I've taken a few pictures of her yesterday and posted this thread as a reminder to me of her existence, just in case I put her back in the loft - and forget her for another few years more!
Still plenty of work to do on the ship.
I hope to model the ship in dry dock during her various alterations and having a re-paint.
Note her new all grey upper works. During the alterations to remove the aircraft catapult etc, the painter chappies are painting over her dazzle paint job in readiness for her Far East duties. They have left her hull whilst they take a tea break!
Now any surface danger is fading, note the mass of new A.A. weaponry throughout the ship.
Build O.O.B., and all brush painted and weathered using Vallejo Air.
Here she is thus far....
These first few pictures show her hull weathered and a couple of props and her anchors taken off. This is how she will look on the chocks in the dry dock.

Some close ups of the rather nice detail.....even straight out of the box.

Due to the alterations, the ship's boats and cranes have been temporarily moved dockside. The lads are painting over the red Oxide on the new deck.

Once again, I'm sorry, but stage build pictures just don't exist.
Cheers.
Ron
