    Thanks chaps.
Such great posts are just the tonic I need to keep slogging on....

As usual with me and dio's, I've had me yet another idea. Using silicone, I've modelled a line of M.G. bullet impacts in the sand and watter!

Must do summat about the guy on the far right!

Using watercolours, I've also started to work on the bluffs....

That is really really good Ron. So realistic and so much detail to suck you into the scene.

Excellent stuff Ron. It's already been said but I admire your ability to just "go for it". Maverick modelling!

I'm still with you here, Ron! Love the B/W pics and it just gets better and better Sir. It's also nice to read that I'm not the only one that can't keep up with all the great builds on here either.

I am a little sad, as there won't be any classic 'chucking up' in this one though.......

          Prost
          Allen

PS, the guy on the right could be shooting while diving to the ground. Sort of an action pose, ya know......

Detail, realism and superb photography to make us feel like we're right in the thick of the action with them.

What more could anyone ask for!

Thanks for all your great posts boys. All more than welcome. :thumb2:

                Second phase on the bluffs.
This will do for now. I'll add more detail for the final pickies.

Anyone contemplating this sort of background work, remember the golden rule -

'The more the detail, the closer the picture will appear' So adding detail to certain parts of the flat 'canvas' will look like these bits are nearer and push the lesser detail to the rear.

During the actual landing, the ships of the invasion force tried to target the defenders. The result was the setting fire to the scrub. The smoke from the fires made it harder to find the targets!

                Cheers.

                        Thanks Steve, Paul and Jim.

Sometimes it's a nice diversion to get out the watercolours when some sort of backdrop is required.

To this end I've started on the seaward view. The destroyer is U.S.S. Frankford. Although badly hit, she went very close inshore and cruised up and down Omaha beach shelling defenders positions.
At one stage she spotted a surviving Sherman tank on the beach firing at the enemy. The ship used the tank's fall of shot as a guide for her own guns.....
